Contrary to all you might have been told, you don’t really need to do very exceptional things in order to attract the cheapest policy that gives you sufficient coverage. Just knowing some compulsory steps and doing them will make a huge difference. I’ll take some time out here to share such things…
1. A good number of insurers will give you a discount if you belong to an auto club. Even though you shouldn’t look to get massive discounts for this, every little discount you can garner will add up to much on the long run.
2. Being part of associations, especially the big ones, will get you discounts on your auto insurance. Insurers give these associations group discounts in the hope that they will in that one move attract many of their members to buy an auto insurance policy with them. Bearing this in mind, you’ll do well to see if there are good discounts with any association you’re part of.
3. Some insurers will give you a discount if a child on your policy is away at school and does not use the car at that period. Take advantage of this if your child is in college. While you’re encouraged to try, you must bear in mind that this is not one of those standard discounts that all insurers give.
4. The difference in what it will cost you to insure comparably priced vehicles could be massive. So as you check out the wonderful specs of the car you intend to buy, don’t forget to find out if it costs too much to insure. A comparable car that has a poor crash rating and higher theft rate will cost a lot more to insure.
In addition, it will also take much more to insure a car that costs a lot to repair or maintain. With a little diligence you can avoid buying a car that will cost you much in higher premiums over time.
5. A car with a high safety rating will attract cheaper rates than one with a poor rating all other things being equal. Opt for cars that have features that increase safety. You’ll be eligible for a Safe Vehicle discount if your car has such features. Examples of these safety features are air bags, automatic seatbelt, ABS brakes and daytime running lights.
6. Joining a car pool will will help in getting a cheaper rate. Carpooling helps you bring down your mileage which is a strong indicator for computing your rate. Anything that brings down your mileage clearly affects your car insurance rate.
7. If you work for a large company you could enjoy a group discount. insurance companies offer large organizations some discount in the belief that such would attract members of that organization.
8. You can get lower quotes on auto insurance now by visiting at least five insurance quotes sites. Each quotes site will require around 5 minutes or less to obtain quotes. (Some folks present details that is not really correct about themselves. That is NOT smart since the quotes you’ll get this way will NOT be of any use to you).
You’ll simply choose the best auto insurance quote for you from the list of quotes returned. That’s all there is to it. However, you could get savings] hundreds of dollars.
